01 / Overview

Custom WordPress plugins built from real production needs — not theoretical feature lists.

Every plugin I have published or built for a client started as a problem I could not solve with existing tools. The Google Business Reviews plugin exists because every review solution I tried either cost too much, violated Google's Terms of Service, or stopped working after a WordPress update. I built my own, open-sourced it, and it is now running on dozens of sites.

Custom plugin development follows the same logic: you have a specific need — a QR scan tracker for five restaurant locations, a property valuation tool connected to a live MLS API, a booking flow that matches your exact process — and no off-the-shelf plugin does exactly that. I build it properly: clean PHP, WordPress coding standards, no bloat, documentation.

All free plugins are GPL2 licensed and available on WordPress.org. Commissioned plugins are yours — you own the code, no licensing lock-in.

05 / Process

How a custom plugin is built

From spec to deployment.
01

Spec & quote

You explain what the plugin needs to do. I write a short functional spec and send a fixed-price quote. No hourly billing, no scope creep surprises.

02

Development

Built to WordPress coding standards. PHP, MySQL, REST API or AJAX as needed. No unnecessary dependencies. Clean, documented code.

03

Testing

Tested on a staging environment against your exact WordPress version, theme and plugin stack. Edge cases documented.

04

Deploy & docs

Installed on production, verified. You get a plain-language document explaining what it does, how to configure it, and what to do if something breaks.

07 / FAQ

Common questions

Quick answers. If yours is not here, send a message — I reply within one business day.
How much does a custom WordPress plugin cost?
Simple plugins (a custom shortcode, a small API integration) start at €200–400. Complex plugins with admin UI, multiple REST endpoints and third-party integrations typically run €600–1,500. I quote per project, not per hour.
Who owns the code after development?
You do. All commissioned plugins are GPL2 licensed and the code is yours. No SaaS lock-in, no monthly licence fee, no dependency on me to keep it running.
Can you modify an existing plugin?
Yes, if it is GPL2 licensed (which most WordPress plugins are). I can extend, fix or customise existing plugins without touching the core file — using hooks, filters and a small companion plugin so updates do not overwrite the changes.
Do the free plugins work with the latest WordPress version?
Yes. All published plugins are tested against current WordPress and PHP versions before any release. You can install them from WordPress.org and update them through the standard WordPress update system.
Can you build a plugin that connects to an external API?
Yes — that is most of what I build. Resales Online MLS, Google Places, Stripe, TuriTop, and several proprietary APIs for clients. I handle authentication, rate limiting, caching and error handling.
