HYPERMETROPIAIn this case, the image forms behind the retina, opposite to what happens in myopia. This incorrect focus may be caused by:
– Eyes smaller than average, measured lengthwise
– Cornea or eye lenses that have changed and are too flat
When hyperopia is mild, distance vision is good, but greater effort is needed to see clearly up close. When hyperopia is more pronounced, both distance and near vision are poor.
PRESBYOPIAAlso called "eye fatigue". After age 40, we can all begin to notice its symptoms. It consists of a loss of elasticity in the eye lens, which forces near objects to be held a bit further away in order to be seen clearly. A person with presbyopia has difficulty with any activity requiring near vision, such as reading or writing. The best way to correct it is by using progressive lenses.
