I just returned from Cable beach, Marbella.

Moraga barbecue

A moraga is a traditional evening party generally held on the beach, typical of the coast of the province of Málaga and other points of the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia,1 in Spain.

The celebration has evolved throughout history. In the nineteenth century, it took place after the collection of nets cast in shallow waters, with the fish caught being eaten on the same beach, accompanied by guitar music and other entertainment; just as can be seen in the painting by artist Horacio Lengo (1838 – 1890). Currently, moragas continue to be celebrated, but no longer with the pretext of fishing, but as a simple recreational day, where sardines or other types of fish, such as jacks, are roasted over the fire.
