"Not interested" button for WordPress: a feed that refills itself

Swapfeed adds a "Not interested" button to each entry on your website. When the reader clicks it, the card disappears and another takes its place: it's Dismiss & Refill. The result is a self-curating feed, a list that each visitor refines to their taste, like Google Discover or YouTube, but on your own WordPress.

Try it right here

These are real projects from my portfolio. Click ✕ Not interested on any card: it disappears, another comes in and you can undo it or hide its entire category.

Something doesn't interest you? Dismiss it and another entry will take its place.

The concept

What is Dismiss & Refill and what is a self-curating feed

Dismiss & Refill

Dismiss & Refill (dismiss and refill) is a UI pattern in which the reader dismisses a content card they're not interested in and, in the same spot, another appears automatically. Without reloading the page and without leaving gaps.

Self-curating feed

A self-curating feed it's a list of contents that each reader curates for themselves: hides what they don't want to see and the feed reorganizes itself. Unlike an algorithm-personalized feed, here the reader decides, without accounts or tracking.

It's the «Not interested» or «Show less like this» (show less like this) of major platforms, but inside your website: your readers hide posts, products or properties and always have something in front of them that does interest them.

What it's for

A personalized feed in WordPress for any listing

Blogs and media

A personalized news feed: the reader hides topics that don't interest them and keeps reading what does.

Portfolios

The client discards projects that don't match what they're looking for and discovers others.

Real estate agencies

«I'm not interested in this property»: hide properties and make room for others from your portfolio.

WooCommerce stores

The customer hides products they're not interested in and sees others from the catalog.

How it works

Discard and refill

1

The reader discards

Each card has a «Not interested» button, visible on mobile and desktop.

2

The space fills

Another entry that they haven't seen yet goes in the same place. Without reloading the page.

3

Refine even more

You can undo, hide an entire category with one click or recover what you hid whenever you want.

Features

Everything it includes, free

Block and shortcode

«Swapfeed» block for the block editor and [swapfeed] for the classic editor, Elementor, Divi or widgets.

Hide posts, products or whatever you want

Posts, pages or any type of public content: portfolio, properties, WooCommerce products, recipes… Filter by category or tag.

Category filters

Optional buttons above the list so the reader can choose a topic.

«What your readers hide»

Anonymous report in the dashboard: which categories and posts are discarded the most. Ideal for deciding what to write about.

Lightweight

A small script and stylesheet, only on pages with listings. No jQuery. Compatible with page caching.

Adapts to your theme

Use your own typefaces. Choose accent color, corners, columns, and what to display: image, category, excerpt, date.

Texts tailored to you

Change "Not interested" and other texts from settings. Includes English, Spanish and Croatian, and can be translated.

Clean uninstall

When deleted it removes its settings and statistics. It leaves no trash in the database.

Privacy

No accounts or tracking cookies

What each reader hides is saved only in their own browser (localStorage). Swapfeed creates no accounts, sets no tracking cookies and sends nothing about the person. If you enable reporting, your website receives only anonymous totals per day, category and post. To prevent abuse, an IP hash is stored for a maximum of one hour and then disappears. You can disable counting with one click.
Usage

Put it on any page

In the block editor, add the block Swapfeed. Anywhere else, paste the shortcode:

[swapfeed] [swapfeed count="9" columns="3" category="noticias" filters="yes" title="Lo último"]
countPosts per load (1–48).
columnsColumns on desktop (1–6). On mobile it's always one.
post_typeAny public content type: post, page, portfolio, product…
category / tagOnly these categories or tags (slugs separated by commas).
exclude / offsetExclude specific IDs or skip the N most recent.
filters"yes" displays filter buttons by category.
image / excerpt / date / term"no" hides that part of the card.
allow_term"no" removes the "hide all from this category" option.
titleTitle above the list.

FAQ

What does Dismiss & Refill mean?
Dismiss and refill: the reader dismisses a card they're not interested in and another one automatically appears in its place. The list never has gaps and adapts to each person.
What is a self-curating feed?
A list that each reader curates for themselves: they hide what they don't want to see and the feed reorganizes itself, with no accounts, no opaque algorithms, and no extra work for you.
Is it like YouTube's or Google Discover's "Not interested" button?
Yes, it's the same idea on your own WordPress website. Plus, readers can hide an entire category with one click, undo it, or recover everything they've hidden.
Where is each reader's hidden content saved?
In your own browser (localStorage). It stays hidden on that device until you click
Does it work with cache plugins like LiteSpeed or WP Rocket?
Yes. The page caches normally; dismiss and refill happens in the browser through the WordPress REST API.
Does it comply with GDPR?
The report only saves anonymous totals per day, category and post: no IP, no cookies, no identifiers. Still, you can disable counting in Settings → Swapfeed.
Can it hide WooCommerce products?
Yes, with post_type="product" displays products with their photo, category and excerpt, and the customer can hide the ones they're not interested in. The buy button stays on the product card.
Can I change the text
Yes, in Settings → Swapfeed → Texts, along with the explanation and the
Does it slow down the website?
No. It only loads a small script and its CSS on pages with a listing, no jQuery or external libraries.
